UMVA has learned that a colossal wave slammed into the Keauhou-Kona Surf & Racquet Club, sending water cascading over the roof of an oceanfront condo on Hawaii’s Big Island.
The surge, described by witnesses as a towering wall of water, ripped shingles from the roof and left a trail of debris in its wake.
Officials had warned that a combination of south-southwest swells and seasonal King Tides could produce waves as high as fifteen feet, and the warning was issued just before the storm hit.
Onlookers captured the moment on video, their voices rising in shock as the wave crashed, slashing the roof and splashing the complex below.
The footage shows shingles tearing away like paper, while residents stare in stunned awe at the raw power of the ocean.
With each wave, the risk of flooding grows, urging residents to consider flood insurance if they have not yet secured it.
