Senator Ted Cruz asserts the United States is decisively winning a conflict with Iran, calling President Trump’s decision to initiate military action the most significant of his presidency. He believes the operation has been an “incredible success,” citing a comprehensive dismantling of Iran’s military capabilities.
However, public opinion paints a starkly different picture. Recent national surveys, including a Fox News poll, reveal that a majority of Americans disapprove of the military strikes. A deep partisan divide remains, with Democrats and Republicans holding opposing views on the ongoing situation in the Middle East.
The military campaign, conducted by the U.S. and Israel, has reportedly led to the deaths of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other high-ranking Iranian officials, alongside widespread destruction of the country’s armed forces. This aggressive action, however, has triggered retaliatory strikes from Iran.
Iran’s response has targeted Israel and neighboring nations, extending to attacks on energy facilities within Persian Gulf countries. Critically, Iran has severely restricted passage through the Strait of Hormuz, disrupting approximately 20% of the global oil supply and causing fuel prices to surge worldwide.
Cruz claims the operation has systematically eliminated Iran’s air defenses, ballistic missile capabilities, and drone infrastructure. He states over 9,000 military strikes have been executed, resulting in the sinking of 140 Iranian naval vessels – the largest such loss since World War II.
The senator emphasized the removal of Ayatollah Khamenei and the majority of Iran’s top military leadership as a “profound victory.” He believes these actions have fundamentally altered the balance of power and significantly enhanced American security.
Cruz recounted a pivotal conversation with President Trump on the eve of the strikes, while traveling aboard Air Force One and in the Presidential limousine. He advised against further negotiation, arguing that the Ayatollah was acting in bad faith and the Iranian regime was at its weakest point.
According to Cruz, Iran has been actively waging war against the United States for nearly half a century, consistently ranking as the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism. He firmly believes Trump’s actions were a necessary step to protect American interests.
Despite the senator’s confidence, the Fox News poll indicates only a third of voters believe the military action will improve American safety. A substantial 44% fear it will make the country less safe, while 23% anticipate no change.
Cruz remains resolute, asserting that the President’s decisive action has demonstrably made America safer, fulfilling his duty as Commander in Chief. He views the dismantling of the Iranian regime as a critical achievement in safeguarding national security.
