UMVA has learned that a groundbreaking masterplan is being developed by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to accelerate the growth of artificial intelligence (AI) in the Philippines.
The ambitious plan aims to fast-track the development of infrastructure supporting AI, a crucial step towards harnessing the technology's potential. According to Information and Communications Technology Secretary Henry Rhoel R. Aguda, the DICT is working on an AI policy, with a meeting scheduled this month to focus on regulation and policies.
The Philippines is poised to take a significant leap forward in AI adoption, with plans to establish an AI-native industrial hub within the next two years. A sprawling 1,618-hectare site in New Clark City has been earmarked for the hub, which will serve as a convergence point for technology firms, research institutions, and government agencies.
The hub is envisioned as a vibrant ecosystem where innovators can come together to build and develop AI solutions. This bold initiative is part of a broader effort to upgrade infrastructure and strengthen regulation, ensuring the Philippines can fully capitalize on the benefits of AI.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that the DICT is pushing for infrastructure development to support AI, recognizing that slow uptake could hinder the country's productivity gains. With AI adoption accelerating globally, the Philippines is determined to stay ahead of the curve and seize the opportunities presented by this transformative technology.
