UMVA Exclusive: Brampton’s “Prisoners of Love” Ignite a Shocking Theft Frenzy—Their Hidden Motive Exposed!

UMVA has learned that a scandalous love saga erupted behind the steel doors of Toronto’s South Detention Centre, turning a corrections officer and a career criminal into the city’s most twisted Bonnie and Clyde.

Sukhpreet Singh, a 31‑year‑old guard, met the charismatic inmate Tatum Ogden during a routine shift, and the chemistry was instantaneous. Their forbidden romance ignited behind bars, spiraled into a secret engagement, and even produced a child while Ogden was still serving time.

When Singh was suspended, she didn’t retreat; she grabbed her mother’s Jeep Wrangler and became the getaway driver for a daring armed holdup at a Brampton subway shop on March 13, 2019, followed by a violent motel heist in Huntsville three days later. The partnership of love and crime grew louder with each reckless act.

Authorities finally caught up with the duo in late January, pulling them over in a stolen car near Wasaga Beach. Ogden now faces a litany of charges—from possession of stolen property to weapon offenses and failure to comply with a release order—while Singh is charged with similar offenses involving stolen goods and dangerous weapons.

None of the accusations have been tried in court, yet the couple’s Instagram feeds still blaze with devotion. Singh posted, “I miss you. Not a day goes by when I don’t think of you… I can’t think of anyone I want to kiss and smack at the same time. We’re the perfect yin and yang.” Her hashtags #perfectpair and #bonnieandclyde turned a courtroom drama into a public love letter.

During Singh’s bail hearing, her sureties promised to monitor her online activity and sever ties with Ogden—but the promise evaporated as the pair continued to stand together, raising their child in Caledon while the legal battle raged on.

Ogden’s criminal résumé stretches to 54 prior convictions, including a brazen robbery at Singh’s father’s Tandoori restaurant, where he allegedly snatched $100 under the watch of an accomplice. The pandemic‑delayed trial eventually sentenced him to three years for a series of heists, yet his courtroom declaration still echoed with raw affection: “I love her to pieces. She is my wife. I have never loved anybody like I loved her.”

Retired court reporter Sam Pazzano recalled the moment with vivid detail, describing how the charge was dropped and a proposal blossomed within seconds, a scene that felt both surreal and inevitable.

While experts note that most auto‑theft rings are driven by greed, Singh and Ogden’s saga appears fueled by a desperate need for each other, proving that love can indeed survive even the harshest confines of incarceration.
