COP UNDER FIRE: Gun Plot SHATTERED – Arrest SHOCKS Toronto!

COP UNDER FIRE: Gun Plot SHATTERED – Arrest SHOCKS Toronto!

A Toronto police officer is facing charges after allegedly misusing police databases multiple times over a seven-month period, spanning from June to December of last year. Constable Rifat Hassan, 33, has been charged with unauthorized computer use and is scheduled to appear in court next month.

Authorities were quick to clarify that this case is separate from the ongoing, high-profile Project South investigation. That probe centers on allegations of Toronto officers leaking sensitive information to organized crime groups, a completely distinct matter.

Further east, in Ajax, a man is in custody facing serious firearms charges following an investigation by Durham Regional Police. The arrest stemmed from a search related to outstanding assault and break-and-enter warrants.

During the investigation, officers discovered a loaded handgun and ammunition at the man’s residence. Dale Blair, 40, now faces charges including possession of a firearm without a license, possession of a loaded prohibited weapon, and tampering with a serial number.

Residents of Milton, Ontario, have been warned to be vigilant after police discovered a camouflaged trail camera strategically hidden in a residential neighbourhood. The device, wrapped in camouflage tape, was pointed directly at nearby homes.

Police believe this is a tactic employed by criminals scouting for potential break-in targets. The cameras are used to monitor homes, identify patterns of occupancy, and pinpoint times when residences are likely to be vacant.

Authorities are urging homeowners to routinely inspect their properties, especially during spring cleaning. If a suspicious device is found, it should not be touched, but immediately reported to the police for safe removal.

In a separate incident, a 14-year-old student at Maxwell Heights Secondary School in Oshawa is facing charges after allegedly bringing a replica firearm to class and threatening fellow students. The incident occurred last week, causing significant alarm.

Following an investigation, the youth surrendered to police and an imitation firearm was seized. The teen is now facing charges of possessing a dangerous weapon and uttering threats, and has been released with conditions.

These incidents, ranging from alleged internal misconduct to potential criminal activity targeting homes and schools, underscore the constant need for vigilance and the complex challenges facing law enforcement across the region.
