Trump Criticizes Blue-State Democrats after Socialist Candidates Make Historic Gains in NYC Primaries

President Trump has spoken out against the trend of far-left socialist candidates winning primary elections in New York City congressional districts. In a series of posts on his social media platform, he warned that these "Communists" will lead to further decline in the states they represent.

The three candidates, all endorsed by radical Mayor Zohran Mamdani, won their primary elections and have clear paths to Congress in their deep blue districts. Darializa Avila Chevalier, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, won the nomination in New York's 13th Congressional District. She was a member of the party until she left, citing its response to a recent conflict in the Middle East.

Avila Chevalier and another candidate, State Rep. Claire Valdez, are members of the Democratic Socialists of America. The party, once considered a fringe element of the left, has become a major force in the Democrat Party. Avila Chevalier ran a campaign that included abolishing ICE, eliminating all deportations, and socialized healthcare.

Valdez, who currently serves in the New York State Assembly, won her primary by a landslide and is likely to fill the seat being vacated by retiring Rep. Nydia Velázquez. Trump criticized both candidates, labeling them as "Communists" and warning that their policies will lead to further decline in the states they represent.

Trump also targeted an incumbent congressman who lost his primary election, Dan Goldman. Goldman served as lead counsel in a 2019 impeachment attempt against Trump and has been a longtime foe of the president. Trump called Goldman "weak and pathetic" and gloated about his loss.

Trump's posts on his social media platform include a warning that America will never become a Communist country. He also touted his own primary victories, claiming that his endorsement has netted 259 primary wins with almost no losses.

The White House declined to comment further on Trump's statements.
