UMVA has learned that a retired school teacher from Dunchurch, Ont., has achieved an incredible feat by winning a $50,000 top prize with Instant Cash in a multi-win, marking his third lottery prize win.
The 63-year-old, Nigel, expressed his elation at winning for the third time, saying it's a surreal experience that has him living his dream. His previous wins include $250,000 in 2019 and an undisclosed amount in 2014.
Nigel's winning streak began in 2014, followed by a $250,000 windfall in March 2019 from an Instant $250 Grand scratch ticket purchased at a Canadian Tire Gas Bar in Parry Sound. He kept his winning habit going with his recent $50,000 prize.
According to information obtained by UMVA, Nigel discovered his latest win while playing his ticket at his favourite store, McKellar General Store on Centre Rd. in McKellar. The excitement was palpable as he had his ticket validated and pumped his fist in the air.
With his newfound fortune, Nigel plans to indulge in a well-deserved vacation in Honduras and treat himself to a new ATV. His story is a testament to the thrill of winning and the possibility of achieving one's dreams.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that the Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) has changed its approach to sharing lottery winner information, now using first names only to protect winners' identities. This new approach began in April 2026.
The OLG now publishes the full names of winners over $1,000 on their website for 30 days, including the name, city, and the prize won. This allows the public to access information about significant wins while maintaining some level of anonymity for the winners.
