US and Iran Make Progress in Indirect Negotiations, Says Trump and Qatari Official

Indirect talks between US and Iranian officials have taken place in Doha, Qatar, with Qatari and Pakistani mediators facilitating the discussions. According to Iranian officials, the talks will also involve the implementation of Iran's agreement with the US and the release of frozen assets. The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that "positive progress" has been made on issues related to the initial peace agreement, which set a 60-day negotiating period between Washington and Tehran. The next meeting is expected to take place at the earliest possible time following the funeral processions of the former Iranian Supreme Leader.

The US Navy is searching for a missing airman after an MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter made an emergency water landing in the Arabian Sea early Wednesday morning. The talks between Iran and Qatar on Wednesday will involve the implementation of Iran's agreement with the US and the release of frozen assets. Iranian officials have confirmed that Tehran's negotiating team has no plan to meet with the US delegation in the coming days. However, Qatar's Foreign Ministry spokesman has stated that $6 billion of Iran's frozen funds will be transferred to Tehran "according to the advancement of negotiations."
