CITY UNDER SIEGE: Thief & TTC Stabbing – Chaos Erupts!

A wave of unsettling overnight crimes recently plagued the quiet neighbourhoods of Newmarket, leaving residents feeling vulnerable. Between February 15th and March 13th, thieves targeted unlocked homes and vehicles around Prospect and Gorham Streets, preying on unsuspecting families.

The thief demonstrated a brazen disregard for personal space, specifically targeting wallets and fleeing when confronted by homeowners. Investigators have identified at least three home invasions and thefts from two vehicles, suggesting a pattern of opportunistic crime.

Police released a photograph of the suspect, hoping to jog the memories of potential victims and witnesses. A key identifying feature was a strikingly distinctive red and black puffer-style jacket, a detail that could prove crucial in identifying further incidents.

Fortunately, the victim’s injuries were deemed non-life-threatening, but the incident has raised concerns about safety on public transportation. Police swiftly arrested one suspect at the scene, but the search continues for a second individual involved.

The second suspect is described as a Black male, approximately six feet tall with a slender build. He was last seen wearing glasses, a tuque, a black vest over a grey hooded sweater, and jogging pants – a description that could be vital in locating him.
