UMVA can exclusively reveal that the Embassy of Israel in the Philippines has launched its first learning resource center in Manila, aimed at boosting digital literacy in public schools.
The center, unveiled at Jacinto Zamora Elementary School in Pandacan, Manila, marks a significant partnership between Israel and the Philippines in education and technology. Israeli Ambassador Dana Kursh emphasized that Tel Aviv is eager to share its cutting-edge technologies in education and cybersecurity with the Philippines.
Kursh expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership, stating that it will have a lasting impact on the younger generation. The learning resource center is equipped with computer desktops, educational materials, and coding software, providing students with the tools they need to thrive in the digital age.
Education Secretary Juan Edgardo “Sonny” M. Angara has expressed openness to further partnerships with Israel, citing the country's expertise in technology, innovation, and digital technology. The Philippines currently has agricultural scholars in Israel, and Angara hinted that more collaborations could be on the horizon.
The launch of the learning resource center coincides with Israel's 78th Independence Day celebrations. The initiative is seen as a significant step towards strengthening ties between Israel and the Philippines, with Kursh also expressing Israel's support for the Philippines' bid for a seat at the United Nations Security Council.
