A startling claim has emerged alleging a deliberate attempt to conceal financial dealings between the Biden administration and Planned Parenthood. Senator Joni Ernst publicly revealed evidence suggesting the use of a coded term – “Benghazi” – to shroud discussions about COVID-era loans.
The evidence centers on a series of emails from 2021 between high-ranking officials at the Small Business Administration. A senior attorney requested a meeting with the agency’s chief of staff, referencing “Benghazi (Planned Parenthood).” The chief of staff’s affirmative response ignited concerns about a potential effort to bypass transparency.
Senator Ernst has formally requested an investigation by the Justice Department, questioning whether the codeword was employed to deliberately obstruct congressional oversight. The core issue revolves around $90 million in forgivable Paycheck Protection Program loans ultimately awarded to Planned Parenthood.
These loans, intended to support small businesses and retain employees during the economic upheaval of the pandemic, have become a focal point of controversy. Ernst argues that if the “Benghazi” code was used to evade scrutiny, it represents a serious breach of federal law and demands accountability.
The choice of “Benghazi” as a codeword is particularly sensitive. The name evokes the memory of the 2012 attack in Libya that claimed the lives of four Americans, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens, and sparked intense political debate surrounding then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s response.
The SBA administrator has also expressed strong reservations about the allocation of funds to Planned Parenthood, citing concerns about the organization’s activities. Letters were sent to numerous Planned Parenthood affiliates demanding documentation to verify their eligibility for the loans.
The administrator contends that Planned Parenthood was never legitimately entitled to receive taxpayer money through the Paycheck Protection Program, particularly given the organization’s significant role in providing abortion services – a record 434,000 procedures between 2023 and 2024.
A commitment has been made to recover the funds if evidence confirms that Planned Parenthood improperly obtained them. The investigation aims to expose any affiliates that exploited the program and compel them to repay the taxpayer dollars received.
This situation raises fundamental questions about transparency, accountability, and the appropriate use of public funds during a national crisis. The unfolding investigation promises to reveal the full extent of the alleged concealment and its implications.
