UMVA has learned that Security Bank Corp. has named its Executive Vice‑President and Business Banking Segment Head John David “JD” G. Yap as the new chief financial officer, effective June 13.
Yap will take the reins from Senior Vice‑President and outgoing CFO Allen Alexander P. Reyes, who is stepping away to pursue other opportunities.
During the handover, Yap will keep steering the Business Banking Segment, with governance and oversight structures in place to keep operations smooth and accountability clear.
The existing leadership teams and daily operations of the Business Banking Segment will continue unchanged as the transition unfolds.
Victor Lee Meng Teck, President and Chief Executive Officer, praised Yap’s proven track record in building businesses, leading teams, and executing at scale, noting that his appointment underscores the bank’s commitment to continuity, disciplined growth, and long‑term capability building.
As CFO, Yap will command the bank’s financial planning and analysis, strategy, regulatory and financial reporting, capital management, investor relations, sustainability, and related finance functions.
He is expected to steer disciplined execution, strengthen the balance sheet, and champion sustainable long‑term growth.
Yap brings more than 25 years of experience across banking, finance, analytics, business development, and risk management, having held senior roles in Singapore with institutions including Standard Chartered Bank, Fullerton Financial Holdings, United Overseas Bank, and Grab Finance.
In a parallel move, the bank has appointed Shuitsuro Komatsu as a new director, replacing Masatoshi Komoriya, and promoted Senior Vice‑President and Retail Channels Group head Myla R. Untalan to Strategic Projects head.
Security Bank’s attributable net income fell 4% to P2.704 billion in the first quarter, weighed by trading and foreign exchange losses amid market volatility and heightened provisions linked to the Middle East conflict.
Consequently, the bank’s shares slipped by P1.50, a 2.29% drop, closing at P64 each on Tuesday.
