Trans illegal migrant gets time served for raping boy in NYC

A 31-year-old individual, identified as Nicol Alexandra Contreras-Suarez, has pleaded guilty to second-degree rape of a 14-year-old boy in New York City. The assault occurred within the confines of a bodega bathroom in East Harlem last February, leaving a community reeling and a family devastated.

Contreras-Suarez, who entered the country illegally from Colombia, admitted to following the teenager into the bathroom and committing the act. Immediately after the attack, the boy bravely sought help from those nearby, leading to Contreras-Suarez’s arrest the following day.

A plea deal offered by prosecutors suggests a sentence of time already served, potentially leading to release on April 27th. This outcome has sparked intense scrutiny, given the severity of the crime and the defendant’s prior legal history.

Before arriving in New York, Contreras-Suarez was wanted in Massachusetts on charges including robbery, weapons offenses, and prostitution. Authorities indicate the individual was released in Massachusetts due to local sanctuary policies, raising questions about the oversight of individuals with pending charges.

Federal immigration officials had placed a detainer on Contreras-Suarez, intending to take custody for deportation following the conclusion of the criminal proceedings. The Department of Homeland Security previously expressed strong condemnation, citing concerns over policies that allowed the individual to remain free.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office stated the plea deal was reached after consultation with the victim’s family, aiming to spare the teenager the trauma of a grand jury appearance and a full trial. Despite the plea, the DA’s office anticipates Contreras-Suarez will be deported following sentencing due to the felony conviction.

The case has ignited a fierce debate surrounding immigration policies, sanctuary cities, and the safety of vulnerable individuals. It underscores the complex intersection of criminal justice, immigration enforcement, and the lasting impact of violent crime on communities.
