UMVA Exclusive: Jordan Tears Into Soros‑Backed DA Descano Over “Laughable” Soft‑on‑Crime Policy!

UMVA has obtained exclusive information about a heated confrontation between House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan and high-profile Fairfax Commonwealth's Attorney Stephen Descano over the issue of soft-on-crime policies.

The tense exchange occurred during a high-stakes hearing where Descano and Fairfax County Sheriff Stacey Ann Kincaid were grilled by lawmakers over the rapidly deteriorating safety of one of America's safest counties. Descano's case was centered around the murder of Stephanie Minter, a young woman allegedly killed by Sierra Leone national Abdul Jalloh, a suspect who had been released from jail despite being charged multiple times.

Jordan began by questioning Kincaid about the release of Marvin Morales-Ortiz, an illegal immigrant suspect who had been let out of her jail. "You'd have to talk to him," Kincaid replied, before bristling at Jordan's follow-up question about law enforcement morale in Fairfax. The exchange quickly escalated into a heated debate between Jordan and Descano, with the chairman accusing the prosecutor of being soft on crime.

Descano's exchange with Rep. Jeff Van Drew of South Jersey also quickly turned contentious. Van Drew criticized sanctuary policies, including in his home state of New Jersey, and told Minter that his own condolences could not do justice to what happened to her daughter in Descano's territory. He called the conditions in sanctuary jurisdictions "bizarro world" and asked the prosecutor if communities are safer when illegal immigrant criminals are deported or when they are released.

Descano's response was met with a fiery reaction from Van Drew, who demanded a simple "yes or no" answer to his question. The prosecutor's inability to provide a clear answer sparked a heated exchange between the two, with Van Drew eventually fuming, "Dammit, answer my question." The exchange highlighted the deep divisions between lawmakers and the prosecutors over the issue of sanctuary policies.

Libertarian analyst David Bier of the Cato Institute also elicited occasional rifts with the lawmakers, as he defended the idea of counties making their own decisions about whether to cooperate with federal law enforcement. His comments sparked some eyebrows on social media, as he appeared to suggest as much as 20% of Fairfax County's population is deportable – when trying to argue against mass deportation.

Bier's comments also drew attention to the Laken Riley Act, which he accused DHS of ignoring. He also accused DHS of "racially profiling Americans at Home Depot" and shooting people like Alex Pretti and Renee Good. The exchange marked a tense moment in the hearing, as lawmakers and analysts clashed over the issue of sanctuary policies and the safety of American communities.
