Maguire had a resurgent second half of the Premier League season under Michael Carrick, helping United secure a return to the Champions League with a third-place finish. His fine form earned him a return to the England squad for March's international friendlies against Uruguay and Japan.
Despite his recent performances, reports suggest that Maguire will not be included in the 26-man squad for the World Cup, which is due to be announced on Friday morning. Maguire appeared to confirm his impending omission in an exclusive statement, saying he was 'confident I could have played a major part this summer for my country after the season I've had'.
