HUNT'S FALL FROM GRACE: UFC Legend in SHOCKING Arrest!

HUNT'S FALL FROM GRACE: UFC Legend in SHOCKING Arrest!

Former UFC heavyweight Mark Hunt, known to fans as the “Super Samoan,” has been arrested in Australia facing serious allegations of domestic violence. The 52-year-old was taken into custody Tuesday following reports of an incident at a home in Northern Rivers, New South Wales, and spent the night detained at Ballina Police Station.

Police allege Hunt engaged in a pattern of threatening behavior towards a family member, culminating in a confrontation where he reportedly threatened physical assault. The prosecution described Hunt as becoming aggressively intimidating, causing significant fear and distress to both the woman involved and a witness to the events.

Disturbing details emerged during the court appearance, including allegations of a menacing text message sent previously: “I’m just going to murder you in the end anyway.” While Hunt’s legal team disputed the authenticity of the text, no charges have yet been filed directly related to it.

Prosecutors strongly opposed bail, arguing Hunt’s background as a professional fighter presented an elevated risk to the alleged victim and the wider community. They emphasized his physical capabilities and the potential for harm.

The defense countered that Hunt’s fighting career did not automatically equate to domestic violence, asserting his right to be presumed innocent. They indicated a likely guilty plea to the charge of stalking or intimidation, but maintained his character was not that of an abuser.

Hunt was ultimately granted bail under strict conditions, requiring him to return to his home in southwest Sydney and maintain absolutely no contact with the alleged victim. He is scheduled to reappear in court on April 30th.

Hunt’s eight-year UFC career, spanning 18 fights from 2010 to 2018, saw him become a fan favorite for his powerful striking and unwavering toughness. He headlined five UFC events, including a memorable battle for the interim heavyweight championship against Fabricio Werdum.

His final UFC fight ended in a unanimous decision loss to Justin Willis in Adelaide in 2018. Though a formidable competitor, Hunt’s time in the organization was also marked by a protracted legal battle with the UFC and its president, Dana White.

Hunt previously filed a lawsuit against the UFC, White, and fellow fighter Brock Lesnar after Lesnar tested positive for banned substances before and after their 2016 bout. The fight was eventually ruled a no-contest, but Hunt’s attempt to seek damages was ultimately unsuccessful, with the Ninth Circuit of Appeals upholding the ruling in favor of the UFC in 2025.
