Ruben Amorim eyes £17 million Manchester United star as the future of his team

Ruben Amorim has taken the helm at AC Milan after a brief tenure as manager of Manchester United. The former Sporting CP coach was dismissed by the English club in January, prompting speculation about his next destination.

Amorim’s appointment at Milan was announced last week in a formal unveiling ceremony. He acknowledged that his time at Old Trafford had not yielded the successes he had hoped for and expressed a commitment to learning from past mistakes.

During the ceremony, Amorim highlighted the importance of adaptability and strategic planning, stating that he would bring a fresh perspective to the Italian side. He emphasized that each club’s culture differs and that his focus will be on aligning his tactics with Milan’s long‑term vision.

One player who has attracted Amorim’s attention is Noussair Mazraoui. The Moroccan full‑back has established himself as a versatile defender for Manchester United, featuring in both full‑back positions and contributing to the team’s defensive solidity.

Amorim praised Mazraoui’s technical ability and modern playing style, describing him as a player who can control the tempo and excel in one‑on‑one situations. The former United defender has earned 77 appearances since joining the club in 2024.

While discussions about a potential transfer have not yet materialised, Amorim has expressed admiration for Mazraoui’s attributes and indicated that he considers the player a valuable asset for future recruitment.

Mazraoui’s contract with Manchester United runs until 2028, providing the club with a window to negotiate a transfer if interest materialises. The player’s performance in the World Cup, where Morocco reached the quarter‑finals, further highlighted his capabilities on the international stage.

In addition to Mazraoui, Milan’s scouting network has also been monitoring other United players, including Rúben Dantas and Amad. However, no formal offers have been made for these players at this time.

Amorim’s departure from Manchester United left the club in a period of transition. Under new permanent manager Michael Carrick, the Red Devils climbed from a poor start to finish third in the Premier League.

AC Milan concluded the previous Serie A season in fifth place. The club is now looking to build on this foundation under Amorim’s leadership, aiming to challenge for higher positions in the domestic league and to strengthen their European ambitions.

Amorim’s move to Milan marks a significant shift in his managerial career, bringing his experience from both Spanish and English football to one of Italy’s most storied clubs.
