DOJ opens grand jury investigation into Neville Roy Singham’s financing of progressive groups

DOJ opens grand jury investigation into Neville Roy Singham’s financing of progressive groups

During a recent public address, Singham endorsed a “new world order” aligned with Chinese leadership and described the United States as a “fascist” nation, echoing rhetoric commonly associated with the Chinese Communist Party.

In the same speech, he referenced a 20th‑century Chinese revolutionary strategy, invoking Mao Zedong’s concept of a “people’s war” to spread communist ideology.

His political influence expanded after his 2017 marriage to Jodie Evans, co‑founder of the far‑left activist group Code Pink, which maintains ties with several authoritarian regimes.

That year, Singham sold his technology firm ThoughtWorks for an estimated $785 million to a London‑based private‑equity firm, which declined to disclose the identities of the investors involved in the transaction.

Following the sale, Singham directed substantial financial resources into a network of activist organizations operating in the United States and abroad.

Investigators have traced 223 transactions between 2017 and 2025, moving roughly $591 million across five continents through 67 core entities that connect to an estimated 2,000 affiliated groups.

Of that total, $278 million was funneled directly into organizations identified as promoting anti‑U.S., pro‑China messaging.

The alleged money‑laundering scheme follows three stages: placement, layering and integration. Placement involved routing the $278 million from Shanghai through the philanthropic arm of a major financial institution and two now‑defunct shell corporations.

Layering transferred those funds into six nonprofit organizations, which then integrated at least $223 million and additional support into a global network that includes the ANSWER Coalition, Breakthrough BT Media, CodePink Women for Peace, Justice and Education Fund, Party for Socialism and Liberation, People’s Forum, People’s Welfare Association and Tricontinental Ltd.

Requests for comment from Singham, Evans and the listed organizations have gone unanswered, and representatives for several affiliated entities could not be located.
