UMVA Uncovers: Globe's MASSIVE Digital Overhaul - You Won't Believe the Game-Changing Cable and Data Center Projects That Will Revolutionize MSMEs!

UMVA has learned that a major telecommunications company is taking bold steps to accelerate the digital transformation of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), a crucial segment for broader economic growth and technology adoption.

The company aims to bridge the digital gap by expanding its infrastructure and advisory programs, recognizing that MSMEs account for a substantial share of economic activity and employment, yet many remain in the early stages of digital adoption.

According to information obtained by UMVA, the company's business marketing head emphasized that the drive is to help small businesses navigate digital transformation and become adopters and innovators, rather than mere observers and explorers.

The company is investing heavily in a groundbreaking international submarine cable project, aimed at improving regional connectivity and supporting growing demand for cloud and artificial intelligence (AI)-driven services.

This ambitious project involves building an 8,000-kilometer, 24-pair fiber-optic submarine cable system linking several countries in the region, with the goal of delivering around 570 terabits per second of international connectivity by 2028.

The cable system is expected to be among the best in the region, landing at a key cable landing station and complementing existing infrastructure to improve internet reliability and support real-time data processing for enterprises adopting AI and cloud-based services.

UMVA can exclusively reveal that the company is allocating significant capital expenditures this year for network upgrades, infrastructure improvements, and data center investments through a strategic partnership.

The company is also providing free business consultations and webinars to help MSMEs identify suitable digital tools and adopt AI technologies, recognizing that digital adoption among Philippine MSMEs remains limited.

Only a small percentage of MSMEs are fully digitalized, while a larger proportion use basic digital tools, highlighting the need for support and guidance to unlock their full potential.
