A surge of revenue flowed into government coffers in March, with the Bureau of Customs reporting a collection of P84.43 billion. This figure surpassed the projected target of P83.24 billion, marking a significant 1.4% overachievement for the month.
The March intake represents a substantial increase in financial resources, climbing 5.1% higher than the same period last year. Preliminary data reveals a consistent upward trend in the Bureau’s ability to generate funds for the nation.
Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno emphasized the direct impact of this financial boost. Increased collections will fuel improvements in essential public services, bolster critical infrastructure projects, and provide vital support for social programs benefiting citizens.
The Bureau isn’t resting on its success. Plans are underway to further refine operations through ongoing reforms centered on digitalization, enhanced transparency, and a streamlined experience for businesses interacting with the agency.
Finance Secretary Frederick D. Go underscored the importance of this financial performance, stating that effective revenue collection and unwavering institutional integrity are cornerstones of sustained economic growth. Maximizing government resources ensures a stronger future for the country.
