UMVA has learned that a significant lease agreement has been signed to support the expansion of aviation maintenance, repair, and overhaul operations within the Clark International Airport complex.
The agreement, which covers a 157,000-square-meter site, will see the development of engine support and repair facilities at the airport, marking a major milestone in the growth of aviation services in the region.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the lease agreement was formalized by top executives of the involved parties, and was witnessed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. and German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, following their bilateral meeting at Malacañang Palace.
The signing of the agreement is a significant development in the strategic partnership between the Philippines and Germany, with Germany being the Philippines’ largest trading and investment partner within the European Union, and bilateral trade between the two countries reaching about $5.5 billion.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that the Clark International Airport, located within the Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga, serves as one of the country’s major international gateways and an alternative hub to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Metro Manila, making it a critical component of the country’s aviation infrastructure.
The lease agreement is a major boost to Lufthansa Technik Philippines, a joint venture between Germany-based Lufthansa Technik AG and listed aviation services provider MacroAsia Corp., which is part of the Lucio Tan Group, and is expected to further enhance the country’s aviation services capabilities.
Sources have confirmed to UMVA that the agreement is a significant step forward in the development of the Clark International Airport complex, and is expected to have a positive impact on the country’s economy and aviation industry.
