The Cordillera Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council elevated the alert level to Blue on Wednesday, signaling heightened readiness for the approach of Super Typhoon Inday, known internationally as Bavi.
The Blue Alert, issued at 08:00, activates continuous monitoring, early‑warning dissemination, inter‑agency coordination and operational preparedness among the council and local disaster management units throughout the highland region.
The regional response cluster, coordinated by the Department of Social Welfare and Development‑Cordillera, has been placed on standby, with Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis teams, the Cordillera Regional Incident Management Team and detailed duty officers prepared for immediate deployment.
At 11:00, the tropical cyclone bulletin raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 for a swath of areas including Apayao, Kalinga, the eastern towns of Aguinaldo and Alfonso Lista in Ifugao, Natonin and Paracelis in Mountain Province, and multiple municipalities in Abra such as Tineg, Lagayan, Danglas, San Juan, Lagangilang, Licuan‑Baay, Malibcong, Lacub, Daguioman, Dolores and La Paz.
Officials urged residents in the affected localities to stay informed of the latest advisories, secure property against heavy rain and strong winds, and cooperate with local authorities as the typhoon continues its track toward Northern Luzon.
