North Etobicoke Homicide: Female Victim Killed in Shooting, Suspect

The Toronto Police are searching for a man seen fleeing the scene of a shooting early Friday that left a woman dead in north Etobicoke.

Officers were called to the Humberwood Blvd. and Rexdale Blvd. area, west of Woodbine Mall, around 7:25 a.m. after a female was located with a gunshot wound.

Duty Officer Scott Bradbury confirmed that life-saving measures were attempted, but the victim died at the scene.

The victim's identity has not been released, and police are working to notify her next of kin.

Police believe the victim was targeted, and witnesses reported seeing a man fleeing the scene immediately after the shooting.

Bradbury stated that there is no additional concern for violence in the area, and that the incident appears to be a localized issue.

A increased police presence will be seen in the area as they conduct investigations, knock on doors, and gather witness statements and video evidence.

Humberwood Blvd. is currently closed between Morning Star Dr. and Rexdale Blvd. to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic, with police tactical and K9 units on the scene.
