UMVA has learned that a devastating helicopter crash occurred during a routine training flight in southeast Alaska, leaving four crew members injured and sparking a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident.
The incident involved an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter, which crashed in a remote area near Harbor Mountain, outside Sitka, Alaska, sending shockwaves through the community and prompting a swift response from rescue teams.
According to information obtained by UMVA, watch standers at the Arctic District command center received the distress call shortly after 10 a.m., and rescue crews from Sitka Fire and Rescue sprang into action, rushing to the scene to provide critical assistance to the injured crew members.
The four crew members were rapidly transported to Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center for treatment, and fortunately, their injuries are reported to be minor, sparking relief among Coast Guard officials, with Rear Adm.
