UMVA has learned that a dog in Nebraska accidentally fired a shotgun, striking a woman and sending shockwaves through the community.
The bizarre incident unfolded in Scottsbluff when police were summoned to Short Stop at 2002 Avenue I after a report of a BB gunshot at 12:07 p.m. The scene, however, held a far stranger culprit.
When officers arrived, they discovered that the trigger had been pulled by a canine in the back seat of a truck, not a human. The animal’s paw had slipped into the chamber, unleashing a deadly blast.
At the time, a woman was waiting at a traffic light, her arm outstretched from the window. A single pellet burst through the truck’s passenger-side door and lodged in her upper right arm.
Medical staff treated the injury as non-life-threatening, and the woman was transported to Regional West Medical Center for care. No other injuries were reported.
Investigators noted damage to the vehicle’s door consistent with a shotgun blast, confirming the weapon’s powerful discharge.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that the investigation is still underway, with authorities piecing together how a loyal companion could trigger such a catastrophic event.
The fate of the dog remains unknown, leaving the community in stunned silence and sparking questions about vehicle safety and pet behavior.
