A woman, identified as a dual citizen of Mexico and the United States, has been sentenced to 37 years in prison in Mexico for allegedly drugging men she met on dating sites and killing at least one of them.
The 44-year-old, who also went by several aliases, is believed to be a prime candidate for extradition to the United States, where she faces charges of fraud, identity theft, and two counts of kidnapping, one of which resulted in death.
According to reports, the woman allegedly conducted her criminal activity between 2019 and 2022, targeting elderly men but also women and individuals of all age groups. She sometimes stole personal information to access bank accounts, retirement savings, and Social Security.
One of her alleged victims, a 67-year-old American retiree, was found dead near Guadalajara, Mexico, in 2021, after meeting the woman on Tinder. She had withdrawn over $50,000 from his accounts.
The woman was arrested in February 2023, charged with murder, and has since remained in Mexican custody. Her husband, who had been married to her for 14 years, expressed surprise at her behavior, stating that he had never seen any signs of her alleged crimes.
The woman's scheme involved meeting older men on dating websites or services, then meeting them in person, and drugging them to gain unauthorized access to their financial accounts. She would then steal money to benefit herself and her family members.
She is believed to have at least 11 victims, and her extradition to the United States is likely to face a significant amount of scrutiny given the severity of her alleged crimes.
