BLOODSHED NIGHT: Toronto Reels From Double Shooting – Suspects Nabbed!

BLOODSHED NIGHT: Toronto Reels From Double Shooting – Suspects Nabbed!

A quiet February night in Scarborough shattered as gunshots echoed near Kennedy Road and Antrim Crescent. Police responded to frantic calls, arriving to find a scene steeped in tension – a victim’s home besieged by a group of threatening men.

The situation escalated rapidly. The victim, refusing to emerge, became the target as a single shot rang out. Investigators launched a swift pursuit, determined to unravel the circumstances behind the brazen act and bring those responsible to justice.

Within two months, three suspects were identified and apprehended. Omran Hamid, 19, Anawar Ali, 20, and Yasser Al-As, 21, now face serious charges including criminal harassment and possession of a loaded restricted firearm, their futures hanging in the balance.

This handgun was allegedly seized and three men have been charged in connection with a shooting that occurred in Scarborough on Feb. 20, 2026.

Just days later, a different tragedy unfolded in Toronto’s west end. The sounds of gunfire pierced the night near Scarlettwood Road and Scarlettwood Court, prompting an immediate police response.

Officers arrived to find a man suffering life-threatening injuries. Despite desperate attempts to save him, the victim was pronounced dead at the hospital, marking the city’s sixth homicide of the year and the fourth involving gunfire. The investigation is now focused on uncovering the motive and identifying a suspect.

Meanwhile, a trail of alleged extortion led investigators across the country. A 23-year-old man, Ravinder Singh, was arrested in British Columbia in connection with two shootings that occurred 17 months prior in Peel Region – one in Caledon, the other in Brampton.

 Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit.

These incidents, police allege, were not isolated acts of violence but rather linked to ongoing extortion activities. The collaborative efforts of the OPP, Peel Regional Police, and the Canada Border Services Agency culminated in Singh’s arrest and charges of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

In a separate, deeply troubling case, a 23-year-old woman’s life ended tragically in the parking garage of Lakeridge Health Oshawa. Durham Regional Police initially responded to a call regarding a woman in crisis, bringing her to the hospital for assistance.

After being released, she was found on the ground below, her fate sealed. The province’s Special Investigations Unit is now meticulously examining the circumstances surrounding her death, with a post-mortem examination scheduled to determine the cause and unravel the sequence of events that led to this devastating outcome.

These investigations, though distinct, paint a stark picture of escalating violence and the complex challenges facing law enforcement. Each case represents a life altered forever, a community shaken, and a relentless pursuit of truth and justice.
