Three suspects are being sought by Toronto Police after one person was gunned down and two others seriously injured following a triple shooting Friday night in North York.
Police responded shortly after 11 p.m. to a shooting in the Jane St. and Sheppard Ave. W. area, where they found three men in their 20s who had been shot.
One of the victims was unconscious and not breathing, and despite life-saving measures by officers and medics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two other victims were transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The victim who was killed was identified as 22-year-old Abdihamiim Aden of Toronto, the city's 18th homicide victim of the year.
"It's very early in our investigation, but it does appear that this shooting was targeted," said Det. Sgt. Sandra Arruda at the scene Saturday afternoon.
"And currently, the motive is under investigation." Arruda added that the suspects drove away in a stolen vehicle.
The suspects, described as "tall and lanky" males wearing all black clothing with masks, escaped in a black Honda Civic that had been stolen in North York several days ago.
The suspect vehicle was later found set on fire and located by Peel Regional Police officers in the Finchgate and Clark Blvds. area, east of Bramalea Rd., in Brampton.
"We understand that incidents like this can cause concern within the community, and I want to ensure the residents of this community that we are putting in all our resources to be in this neighbourhood, and where the vehicle was located, to find all the evidence that we need to solve this murder," Arruda said.
It is currently unknown if the victims and suspects knew each other or if there was an incident between the two groups before the shots were fired.
Forensic investigators had gathered most evidence of the shooting outside a residence, and some witnesses have come forward with information.
Arruda appealed to anyone with information to contact the Homicide Unit or 31 Division, or to leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to come forward.
This incident is the second fatal shooting in the city in less than a week.
On Monday afternoon, a man was found with a gunshot wound in the Victoria Park Ave. and Hwy. 401 area, and was later pronounced dead.
Police identified the victim as 32-year-old Levon Byers of Toronto, and Hakim El Mozazi, 28, of Toronto was charged with second-degree murder and four firearm offences.
