Three women have been arrested and charged in connection with a string of distraction thefts targeting elderly victims in Toronto this summer.
According to police, the trio allegedly operated as part of a criminal organization and worked together to commit a number of distraction thefts between July and September.
The victims were targeted due to their age and vulnerability, with the suspects stealing a quantity of jewelry.
A Criminal Code search warrant was executed at a residence in North York, resulting in the arrest of three individuals: Florentina Alexandru, 44, Mirabela Lacatusu, 27, and Florentina Alexandru, 37, all of Toronto.
The suspects were each charged with multiple counts of theft, possession of proceeds obtained by crime, and participating in a criminal organization.
Police believe there may be additional victims and have released images of the accused women, urging anyone with information to come forward.

A Newmarket driver has been charged in connection with the fatal collision of a cyclist in East Gwillimbury over the weekend.
York Regional Police are appealing for witnesses after the victim, a 55-year-old man from Newmarket, was struck by two vehicles and pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the first vehicle that struck the cyclist remained at the scene, but a second vehicle fleeing the scene was later identified through an investigation.
The driver of the second vehicle, Ahmad Nadi, 45, of Newmarket, has been charged with failing to stop after an accident resulting in death.
The investigation is ongoing, with police seeking any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police and anyone with dashcam footage of the area around the time of the collision.
