UMVA has learned that Delta is making a significant investment in Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), doubling down on its presence at the West Coast hub.
The airline plans to open its second Delta One Lounge at LAX in 2027, a move that will make LAX the only hub with two of Delta's luxurious international business-class lounges. This new lounge will be located in Terminal 2, while the existing Delta One Lounge is in Terminal 3.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the new Delta One Lounge at LAX will offer a private check-in area, complete with a security checkpoint and transportation directly to the lounge. This experience will mirror the existing lounge in Terminal 3, where passengers can enjoy an exclusive check-in entrance and a seamless journey to the lounge.
Delta's increased focus on LAX as a hub is evident in its planned launch of new nonstop service from LAX to Hong Kong International Airport on June 6 and LAX to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport on June 7. The airline is also investing heavily in infrastructure ahead of the 2028 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games, during which Delta will be the official airline of Team USA.
The new lounge is part of a broader strategy to enhance the passenger experience at LAX, which will host several high-profile events in the coming years. Delta One Lounges are currently available at several of the airline's other hubs, including Boston Logan International Airport, New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport, and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
While details about the amenities at the new Delta One Lounge at LAX are still scarce, the existing lounge offers a la carte dining, bars featuring signature cocktails, and expansive outdoor decks overlooking the tarmac. Passengers can expect a similar experience at the new lounge, which may also feature relaxation and wellness areas.
Access to the new lounge will be restricted to a select group of travelers, including those flying on same-day Delta One flights, invitation-only members of Delta 360, and passengers on select partner airlines in premium cabins. Unfortunately, carrying a premium credit card will not grant access to this exclusive lounge.
The addition of a second Delta One Lounge at LAX is great news for flyers, who will benefit from increased capacity and a more luxurious travel experience. As the airline continues to invest in its West Coast hub, passengers can expect even more enhancements in the years to come.
