The Strictly Come Dancing star has issued a stern warning to theatregoers, reminding them not to film at the theatre. Amber Davies, 29, is currently performing as Elle Woods in the UK and Ireland tour of Legally Blonde: The Musical.
During Saturday's show, the 'selfish actions' of an audience member became 'distracting' for the cast, leaving Amber with no choice but to ask for them to be removed. Taking to her Instagram Story in the interval, she explained: 'This is your daily reminder not to film at the theatre! Unfortunately, tonight, at the Bord Gáis, we've got a beautiful audience, but there's just one woman in the front row, filming the entirety of Act One.'
Amber added: 'It's had us all distracted. It's ruined the morale of our wonderful eighth show on a Saturday night from selfish actions. Hopefully, she's not back for Act Two.' She then made it known that she has no time for theatregoers breaking the rules: 'There have been a couple of people filming in Ireland this week, and I'm the type of person, I will count how many seats away you are from what door, and you will be told and asked to leave.'
Amber's warning comes after she had to take time off earlier this year due to illness, leaving musical theatre and TikTok star Hannah Lowther to step in for a performance in Milton Keynes. The Legally Blonde performer has reminded fans not to film in the theatre, saying: 'We don't need to film everything, let's just enjoy the two and a half hours together!'
The prohibition of videoing, audio recording, and flash photography is to protect copyright laws and to preserve the live experience. For the majority of productions, filming is strictly forbidden unless an audience member has signed a contract in advance.
Rosamund Pike previously made headlines for how she scolded a texter during a performance, berating the individual for 'breaking the bond' between the cast and audience. Similarly, Cynthia Erivo walked off stage from her one-woman Dracula show after spotting someone filming her.
Amber's stern warning serves as a reminder to theatregoers to respect the theatre protocol and not to film during performances. The Legally Blonde performer has made it clear that she will not tolerate any disruption to the show, and fans have praised her for standing up for herself and her castmates.
The issue of filming in theatres has become increasingly common in modern productions, with many performers speaking out against the practice. Amber's warning serves as a reminder to fans to respect the theatre and its performers, and to enjoy the live experience without the distraction of filming.
Amber's commitment to her craft and her castmates is evident in her dedication to the show, and her warning serves as a reminder to fans to be considerate of the performers and the theatre protocol.
