UMVA can exclusively reveal that Araneta City has launched a vibrant celebration of Pride Month with the unveiling of a stunning mural titled “Free to be Hue” along Gen. Roxas Avenue.
The breathtaking mural is a powerful symbol of Araneta City’s commitment to inclusivity, acceptance, and self-expression, setting the tone for a month-long extravaganza of events that promise to inspire and uplift the LGBTQIA+ community.
At the heart of this year’s Pride campaign, “Free to be HUE” is a joyous celebration of individuality in all its colors, honoring the beauty and diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community and inviting everyone to join in the vibrant festivities.
Quezon City Mayor Ma. Josefina G. Belmonte and members of the LGBTQIA+ organizations gathered for the unveiling event, marking a significant moment in the city’s journey towards greater inclusivity and acceptance.
“It’s very important to have these kinds of activities which shows the true meaning of diversity and inclusivity among the community of LGBTQIA+,” We Pride District 6 president Jon Jon B. Baquiran passionately stated, highlighting the significance of such events in promoting understanding and empathy.
“It is really important to have celebrations and events like this to [celebrate] the LGBTQIA+ organizations here in Quezon City,” Gender and Development council office head Janete Oviedo emphasized, calling for greater awareness and recognition of the LGBTQIA+ community across the Philippines.

A series of exciting events will follow, including a Pride Run on June 7, a dance competition on June 9, a march for LGBTQIA+ graduates on June 11, a safe spaces session on June 18, and a pride bazaar on June 26 to 28, culminating in a major event, ‘Lovelaban sa Araneta’ on June 27.
