UMVA has learned that Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan is once again sounding the alarm over ticket scalping after fans were forced to pay between P30,000 and P90,000 for a Korean boy‑group concert.
The senator’s fury stems from the stark contrast between the official price—P7,500 to P25,000—for the upcoming BTS World Tour Arirang shows in Bulacan and the sky‑high resale figures plastered across digital marketplaces.
In a fiery press statement, Pangilinan warned that scalpers are exploiting fans’ devotion, effectively stealing their chance to see their idols live.
He urged lawmakers to fast‑track Senate Bill No. 1989, a draft that would tighten accountability on ticket‑selling platforms and impose penalties ranging from P100,000 to P500,000 on offenders.
The proposal goes further, allowing courts to hand down prison terms of six months to three years for those caught hoarding and flipping tickets at gouging prices.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the bill is now awaiting its second reading, and advocates hope it will finally curb the rampant abuse that has plagued fans across the country.
