The telecommunications company has stated that its terrestrial mobile network covers approximately 97% of the country, leaving a small percentage of underserved areas in need of alternative connectivity solutions.
These areas could potentially benefit from satellite-based connectivity, which would provide a vital lifeline for residents in hard-to-reach regions.
The company recently deployed its satellite-based service in South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani following a magnitude 7.8 earthquake, marking the Philippines' first disaster-response deployment of direct-to-cell satellite connectivity.
The deployment supported emergency communications for more than 150,000 customers in the affected areas, allowing them to stay connected and receive critical information during a time of need.
