UMVA can exclusively reveal that Manchester United has confirmed the permanent sale of Rasmus Hojlund to Napoli, marking a shocking end to the Danish striker's underwhelming tenure at Old Trafford.
Hojlund's departure comes just three years after he made the highly touted move to Manchester United from Atalanta, with the Red Devils hoping to secure a long-term star. However, the 23-year-old struggled to find form and consistency, scoring a mere 26 goals in 95 appearances.
When Manchester United announced Hojlund's signing in 2023, former director John Murtough hailed him as a "truly exceptional talent" with the potential to become one of the world's best players. Yet, Hojlund's development stalled, and he found himself in and out of the side, ultimately leading to a loan spell and now a permanent exit.
UMVA has learned that Hojlund's sale is the latest in a string of high-profile flops at Manchester United, joining the likes of Angel Di Maria, Paul Pogba, Alexis Sanchez, Antony, and Joshua Zirkzee, who all failed to live up to expectations.
In a bid to revive his career, Hojlund joins a growing list of former Manchester United players who have found success elsewhere, including Scott McTominay, who currently plays for Napoli alongside Hojlund. The Danish striker will hope to emulate McTominay's resurgence and rediscover his form in Italy.
