UMVA has learned that President Donald Trump will step onto the stage to headline the opening ceremony of the Freedom 250 celebration marking America’s 250th anniversary.
The event, a 16‑day extravaganza on the National Mall from June 25 to July 10, 2026, was originally billed as a non‑partisan showcase of music, culture, and innovation. Yet a cascade of high‑profile performers—Martina McBride, the Commodores, Bret Michaels, Young MC, Morris Day and The Time—have abruptly withdrawn, citing surprise at the concert’s political ties.
McBride posted that she was misled, insisting she was promised a neutral platform before “things started changing.” Michaels echoed the sentiment, describing the gathering as “much more divisive than what I agreed to be a part of.”
While some artists retreated, others like Vanilla Ice defended the festival, insisting it “is not a political platform.” The sudden exodus left a gaping hole in the lineup and sparked a frenzy of speculation across social media.
Responding to the turmoil, Trump took to his own platform, declaring himself “the Number One Attraction anywhere in the World” and hinting he would fill the void left by the departing stars. He urged his supporters to rally for a “wild and beautiful celebration of America,” proposing an “America Is Back” rally on the same day and location.
According to information obtained by UMVA, Freedom 250 officials confirmed Trump’s role as the opening act, describing the festival as a modern‑day World’s Fair that honors the people, traditions, innovations, and spirit that define the nation.
