During cross‑examination, Hull stated he could not definitively identify a gun in the video, describing the object as long, concealed, or possibly inside a bag, and noting that his training allowed for the possibility it was a firearm.
Investigators observed that the subject’s limp or unusual gait vanished after the shooting. Hull testified that campus video helped pinpoint a wooded area believed to hold evidence, which was subsequently secured.
He confirmed that a rifle was later recovered from that location, where the suspect was thought to have entered on two separate occasions: during a prior campus visit and again on the day of the shooting.
Hull identified a vehicle, presumed to belong to the suspect, on surveillance footage captured around 12:30 a.m. on September 11 at the intersection of Campus Drive and 800 South.
The vehicle reportedly interacted with Officer Goforth, a security officer, prompting the officer to record the license plate. A partial plate search later linked the vehicle to Tyler Robinson and his mother, Amber Robinson.
Hull indicated that the individual he encountered was a male he believed to be Tyler Robinson.
Judge Tony Graf sanctioned media personnel after an exhibit was unintentionally displayed and broadcast during Thursday’s proceedings. He delayed a decision on additional exhibits, later permitting a final video compilation as an exception.
Oral arguments on preliminary‑hearing evidence are scheduled for September 1 at 10 a.m., and the defendant has not yet entered a plea.
Following the hearing, the victim’s family urged the court to expedite the case, citing “overwhelming evidence” presented during the five‑day preliminary hearing and emphasizing the approaching one‑year anniversary of the death.
The family’s filing stressed the defendant’s right to a fair trial while warning against unnecessary delays that could hinder the criminal justice process.
