EASTER BLOOD MONEY: $34M COCAINE HAUL STOPPED DEAD!

EASTER BLOOD MONEY: $34M COCAINE HAUL STOPPED DEAD!

Easter Sunday unfolded with a dramatic confrontation in the vast expanse of the Eastern Pacific. A Coast Guard cutter, the Escanaba, received a chilling alert: a vessel suspected of ties to narco-terrorism was actively discarding its illicit cargo into the ocean.

Responding swiftly, the Escanaba launched an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew to investigate the suspicious activity unfolding off the coast of Manta, Ecuador. What they discovered was a desperate attempt to conceal a massive shipment of cocaine.

The crew deployed a pursuit boat, meticulously combing the waters where contraband had been jettisoned. Their efforts yielded a staggering recovery – over 4,510 pounds of cocaine, with a street value approaching $34 million.

This seizure wasn’t an isolated incident, but a key component of Operation Pacific Viper, a large-scale counter-drug operation initiated months prior. The operation aims to disrupt the flow of narcotics and dismantle the criminal networks fueling the trade.

Operation Pacific Viper has already achieved significant results, intercepting over 215,000 pounds of cocaine and leading to the apprehension of more than 160 suspected traffickers. The Coast Guard’s relentless pursuit is directly impacting the cartels’ ability to profit from their dangerous activities.

August witnessed the operation’s most substantial success to date: the recovery of a record-breaking 76,000 pounds of illegal drugs, valued at an astonishing $473 million. This single event represented the culmination of multiple interdictions, showcasing the scale of the operation.

November brought another major victory, with nearly 50,000 pounds of illicit drugs seized, representing a value of $362 million. These successes underscore the dedication and effectiveness of the Coast Guard in combating the threat at sea.

These ongoing efforts represent a determined strategy to sever the financial lifeline of transnational criminal organizations and protect communities from the devastating consequences of drug trafficking. The Coast Guard’s presence in the Eastern Pacific is a critical line of defense.
