UMVA has learned that two men have been sentenced to over 60 years in prison for their roles in a drive-by shooting at a wake in north London, which resulted in the death of an innocent mother of two.
Michelle Sadio, 44, was gunned down outside the River of Life Pentecostal Church in Willesden on December 14, 2024, in a senseless act of violence that has left her family and community devastated.
Perry Allen-Thomas, 27, and Amir Salem, 20, were found guilty of murder and two counts of attempted murder following a trial at the Old Bailey. They were sentenced to life in prison with minimum terms of 38 and 26 years, respectively.
The judge, Mrs Justice McGowan, described the incident as a "terrible tragedy" that occurred during a "happy, family-oriented" occasion. She condemned the defendants for showing no regard for the lives of others, including children who were present at the scene.
In a powerful victim impact statement, Michelle's widower, Jean-Marie Sadio, revealed that he had chosen to forgive his wife's killers. He urged them to use their time in prison to reflect on their actions and make a positive change.
The court heard that the shooting was a targeted attack on a rapper known as Trapstar Toxic, who was attending the wake. However, the defendants' reckless actions resulted in the death of an innocent woman and injuries to two others.
The investigation revealed that the defendants had planned and carried out the attack using a stolen Kia with false number plates. The vehicle was later set on fire, and the defendants attempted to cover their tracks.
The community is still reeling from the shock of this senseless tragedy, and the sentencing of the defendants brings some closure to the family and loved ones of Michelle Sadio.
