A new era of gaming is poised to begin in New York City. Resorts World New York City is preparing to launch the city’s first live table games casino on April 28th, bringing the thrill of blackjack, craps, baccarat, and roulette directly to Queens.
The momentous opening hinges on final approval from the New York Gaming Commission this week. If granted, Resorts World will etch its name in history as the first establishment within the five boroughs to offer the immersive experience of live dealer table games.
A completely reimagined third floor will unveil over 240 tables, boasting more than 1,500 gaming positions. Alongside the classic table games, guests will discover a vast selection of over 2,500 slot machines on opening day, with plans for thousands more to be added in 2026.
“New York City has never seen anything like this,” declared Robert DeSalvio, President of Genting Americas East. “Once the Gaming Commission completes its testing, live table games will be a reality in Queens for the first time ever. We are eager to welcome New Yorkers to this exciting new chapter.”
This expansion represents a significant economic boost for the region. Resorts World has already doubled its workforce to over 2,200 employees and anticipates adding thousands more as the integrated resort continues to develop over the next three years.
The surge in opportunity prompted a substantial hiring spree, with 1,250 new positions created, including 950 dedicated table-game dealers. The majority of these new team members recently completed intensive orientation programs, preparing them for the bustling casino floor.
Resorts World isn’t just creating jobs; it’s building careers. Their Introduction to Gaming program, launched in 2022, has already trained over 350 local residents for gaming professions. The Resorts World Dealer School has similarly equipped and hired over 400 Queens residents, with another 500 graduates expected by May.
The official launch will be marked by a formal ceremony on Tuesday, April 28th, at 9:30 a.m. A ribbon-cutting and a ceremonial first roll of the dice will symbolize the beginning of this new era in New York City gaming.
Distinguished guests, including Genting Chairman KT Lim and representatives from NAS, are expected to attend alongside elected officials and community leaders. The event promises to be a celebration of economic growth and community investment.
Currently the city’s sole casino-hotel, Resorts World has already contributed nearly $5 billion to New York public education since 2011. The property also features the 400-room Hyatt Regency JFK Airport at Resorts World, which opened in 2021, offering a complete destination experience.
This expansion arrives as New York State considers awarding three downstate casino licenses. Resorts World has submitted a comprehensive $5.5 billion proposal to transform the site into a larger, fully integrated resort, a plan that recently received a positive advancement from its community advisory committee.
