COLOMBIA NIGHTMARE: 66 DEAD in Military PLANE PLUMMET!

A military transport plane plummeted to the earth shortly after liftoff in Puerto Leguizamo, Colombia, unleashing a tragedy that claimed the lives of at least 66 people. The aircraft, carrying 128 souls – primarily soldiers – vanished from the sky, leaving a scene of devastation and a community reeling from shock.

General Hugo Alejandro López Barreto confirmed the grim toll, revealing that four military personnel remain unaccounted for. The weight of the loss is immense, a stark reminder of the sacrifices made by those serving their country. Initial assessments indicate no evidence of hostile action, focusing the investigation on mechanical failure.

The small town of Puerto Leguizamo, nestled in the Amazonian province of Putumayo, immediately mobilized to respond. Deputy Mayor Carlos Claros described a scene of heartbreaking urgency, with bodies respectfully taken to the local morgue and the injured receiving immediate care at the town’s two clinics before being transported to larger medical facilities.

Images quickly circulated, depicting a dark plume of smoke rising from the crash site – a field now scarred by wreckage. Soldiers rushed to the scene, aided by local residents who bravely attempted to extinguish the flames engulfing the downed aircraft, surrounded by the dense Amazonian foliage.

The manifest revealed a heavy military presence: 115 Army personnel, 11 crew members, and 2 National Police officers were aboard. Fifty-seven individuals were successfully evacuated, a small measure of hope amidst the overwhelming sorrow. The Hercules C-130 was en route to another city within Putumayo when disaster struck.

Air Force Commander Carlos Fernando Silva stated the aircraft experienced an unspecified problem approximately two kilometers from the airport, leading to its rapid descent. Two planes, equipped with 74 beds, were dispatched to transport the wounded to hospitals in Bogota and other cities, a desperate race against time to save lives.

Witnesses described a remarkable display of community spirit, with residents utilizing motorcycles to ferry injured soldiers from the crash site. This outpouring of support underscores the resilience and compassion of the people of Puerto Leguizamo in the face of unimaginable loss.

The downed Hercules C-130 was a 2020 donation from the United States, undergoing a comprehensive overhaul just three years prior, including thorough engine inspections and component replacements. Aviation expert Erich Saumeth emphasized that the investigation will center on determining the cause of the engine failure so soon after the maintenance.

Defense Minister Pedro Sánchez affirmed that, at present, there are no indications of an attack by rebel groups operating in the region. He expressed the nation’s profound grief, hoping that collective prayers might offer some solace to those affected by this devastating event.
