CHICAGO ON BRINK: Ex-Mayor DEMANDS Federal Takeover After Family Trauma!

CHICAGO ON BRINK: Ex-Mayor DEMANDS Federal Takeover After Family Trauma!

The weight of gun violence descended personally upon Tiffany Henyard, former mayor of Dolton and supervisor of Thornton Township, with devastating suddenness. Her father, a man she described as her hero, became an innocent victim of a shooting in Chicago, a stark reminder of the crisis gripping Illinois.

Henyard publicly shared her grief, identifying herself as “SuperMayor Tiffany A. Henyard” in a statement released on social media. The pain was raw and immediate, a father wounded, a family shattered by a random act of violence that left him hospitalized in serious condition.

In the wake of this personal tragedy, Henyard issued a direct plea to Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson. She urged them to set aside political differences and seriously consider accepting federal assistance – specifically, aid offered by President Donald J. Trump – to combat the escalating crime rates.

Henyard pointed to examples of cities that had seen positive results through collaboration with federal resources. Memphis, Washington D.C., and New Orleans, all having received support including National Guard deployments, experienced measurable reductions in crime during periods of intervention.

She emphasized that the core difference between Illinois and these other locations wasn’t resources, but leadership’s willingness to collaborate. The choice, she argued, was simple: partnership could yield tangible results and restore a sense of safety to communities.

The shooting occurred on Wednesday evening in the North Lawndale neighborhood, leaving a 65-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the neck. Police reports detailed the incident, painting a grim picture of the violence that now had a deeply personal connection for Henyard.

This call for assistance comes as Henyard navigates a new political landscape. Having recently lost a Democratic primary for the Dolton mayoral position, she is now campaigning for a seat on the Fulton County board of commissioners in Georgia, running as a Republican.

Her statement concluded with a heartfelt request for prayers and support for her family during this incredibly difficult time, a plea born from the profound loss and fear that now defines her experience. The hope for healing is intertwined with a desperate call for action.
