Reytech Promotes Prefabrication as Construction Costs Rise

Reytech Construction and Development Corp. is advocating pre‑engineered building (PEB) technology to cut construction time and labor expenses amid rising material costs and workforce shortages.

Company president Francis Reyes explained that PEB relies on off‑site prefabrication rather than a particular material, allowing components to be manufactured in a controlled environment before being shipped to the site.

With most elements pre‑built, on‑site work is reduced to bolting and erecting sections, eliminating much of the welding and heavy‑lifting typically required.

Prefabricated parts arrive with pre‑drilled holes, enabling faster assembly and lowering the risk of delays caused by weather or labor disputes.

Reyes estimates that the method can shorten project schedules and labor costs by 20 % to 30 %. This reduction translates into faster project delivery and lower overall budgets.

To control material expenses, Reytech sources steel components from its Batangas plant and from suppliers in China and Vietnam, where input costs are lower due to abundant steel production and cheaper fabrication labor.

While concrete remains common in the Philippines because of seismic concerns, steel offers greater design flexibility and quicker construction. The early 20th‑century completion of the Empire State Building in about a year illustrates that speed is achievable. Steel’s adaptability also supports more innovative architectural designs.

Reytech is deploying PEB solutions on major infrastructure projects, including airport developments in partnership with a leading conglomerate.

The company’s adoption of PEB aligns with a broader strategy to raise the competitiveness of mid‑size contractors by adhering to international quality standards such as ISO 9001.

Reyes emphasized the goal of restoring market confidence among local builders and delivering the infrastructure, housing, and commercial projects the country needs.
