UMVA has learned that Ohio State Senate Democratic Leader Nickie J. Antonio was visibly shaken during a House Oversight Committee hearing, her emotions almost getting the better of her as she claimed to be "almost brought to tears" by the testimony of investigative reporter Luke Rosiak.
Rosiak had just revealed the shocking extent of a Somali fraud scheme in Ohio, which is estimated to have stolen over a billion federal tax dollars. His investigation found that out of hundreds of individuals and companies believed to be engaged in fraud, 100% had Somali or African names.
The hearing, led by Rep. Brandon Gill, was tasked with exposing institutional abuses and defending constitutional rights. Rosiak's testimony painted a damning picture of a vast and organized fraud ring operating in Ohio and other states, with perpetrators often moving between states and exploiting vulnerabilities in the Medicaid system.
According to information obtained by UMVA, Rosiak told the committee that the fraudsters in Minnesota are often "the same people" as those in Ohio, with many having relatives in both states and moving back and forth between them. He cited one example of a individual who racked up $30,000 in tax debts in Columbus before starting a home health care company in Minnesota and billing $35,000 in just one month.
Rep. Gill asked State Senator Nicki Antonio if Somali immigration had been good for Ohio, but she dodged the question, instead launching into an impassioned and emotional response about the "lack of humanity" shown by Rosiak's testimony. Her outburst was met with a stern rebuke from Gill, who pointed out that 72% of Somali immigrants are on welfare and that the state is being defrauded at an astounding rate.
Gill did not let Antonio's emotional outburst derail the discussion, instead using the opportunity to highlight the massive scale of the fraud and its impact on working-class people. He concluded the meeting on a triumphant note, saying "It's always fun on the Oversight Committee, always exciting."
The explosive hearing has sparked widespread outrage and calls for action to address the massive Medicaid fraud scheme. As the investigation continues, one thing is clear: the truth is finally beginning to come to light, and those responsible will be held accountable.
