Two men are dead after a Wednesday evening shooting rocked a quiet residential area in Woodbridge.
York Regional Police said they responded of shots fired outside of a residence on Kaiser Dr., near Langstaff Rd. and Kipling Ave., in the west-end Vaughan neighbourhood just at 5:30 p.m.
Police said they found two adult male victims suffering from “multiple” gunshot wounds and that they were pronounced dead at the scene.
Const. Kevin Nebrija said one of the victims lived at the residence where the shooting occurred, while the other lived in the area. He also said other people were inside the residence at the time of the shooting.
Incident ‘absolute shocking,’ cops say
“It’s absolutely shocking to the community here and to anyone who may have heard or seen anything,” Nebrija told reporters at the scene, which was broadcast on CP24. “It’s not often that homicides occur, especially in broad daylight.
“While it concerning for us, we do have our homicide investigators looking very much into it to find out who’s responsible and exactly why that happened today.”
Nebrija said they consider the incident to be targeted and that police are on the lookout for three males who fled in a blue SUV “immediately after the shooting.” He also said an SUV was to be on fire in the Huntington-Kirby Rds. area east of Bolton and that the vehicle matched the description of the one seen fleeing the shooting in Woodbridge.
“Our investigators are working to determine if both incidents are related,” Nebrija said.
