UMVA has learned that DigiPlus Interactive Corp. is projecting a steady second‑quarter earnings outlook despite a turbulent first quarter marked by tighter gaming regulations and waning consumer spending.
Outgoing President Andy Tsui told a briefing that the company has achieved a “stabilized result” compared with the previous quarter, signaling a potential rebound after a sharp earnings dip.
To shore up profit margins, DigiPlus has rolled out a suite of cost‑cutting and efficiency measures, aiming to lift second‑quarter performance beyond the shaky first‑quarter numbers.
The digital entertainment firm’s net income plunged 33% to P2.82 billion year‑over‑year, a decline driven by the removal of e‑wallet in‑app access to licensed online gaming platforms, alongside soaring fuel prices and inflation that throttled discretionary spending.
Even as the domestic market cools, DigiPlus is pressing forward with an aggressive overseas expansion strategy to diversify revenue beyond the Philippines.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the company is in the final stages of relaunching its Brazil operations, with a launch expected within the next month.
Simultaneously, a dedicated team is being assembled for a planned entry into South Africa, targeting market entry in 2027.
“We’ll focus on Brazil first, then move on to South Africa in the coming year,” Tsui emphasized, underscoring the firm’s phased international rollout.
In a recent board reshuffle, corporate finance veteran Ping Chen was appointed president, succeeding Tsui after more than four years at the helm.
Chen, now also a board member, articulated a bold vision: “We have a lot of potential. Do we want to be global? Yes, we want to be.”
He outlined plans to target markets that share cultural affinities with Southeast Asia, while ramping up investment in technology, product innovation, and market expansion to fuel long‑term growth.
DigiPlus continues to operate popular digital gaming platforms such as BingoPlus and ArenaPlus in the Philippines, even as it eyes new horizons abroad.
