The terrifying incident unfolded at The Preserve at Chocorua in Tamworth, shortly after 4:30 p.m., as more than 100 people were on the dance floor. Reports flooded in describing a catastrophic collapse, with guests trapped beneath fallen beams and heavy farming equipment.
First responders arrived to a scene of frantic activity, but were met with an astonishing sight: venue staff and fellow wedding guests had already sprung into action, providing immediate first aid and using ladders to rescue those who had fallen through the gaping hole.
Investigators determined that 144 guests were inside the Sap House building when the floor buckled, creating a six-by-six-meter opening. Nearly 70 people plummeted into the basement, a shocking testament to the suddenness and scale of the disaster.
