Far Eastern University is forging a new path for its students, directly addressing a growing global concern: the widening gap between academic training and the demands of the modern workplace.
Recent collaborations aren’t simply about adding courses; they represent a fundamental shift towards embedding industry-standard practices directly into the curriculum, ensuring graduates are prepared from day one.
The urgency of this approach is underscored by a recent World Economic Forum report, which reveals that 63% of employers worldwide identify skills gaps as the biggest obstacle to future growth and transformation.
The situation is particularly acute in the Philippines, where two-thirds of employers foresee skills shortages in the coming years, yet a significant disparity exists between those needing training and those actually receiving it.
To combat this, FEU Academy has partnered with Bacolod Chicken Inasal, a popular restaurant chain, to create a program focused on practical training, professional development, and exceptional service – the hallmarks of a truly industry-ready graduate.
Jose Mari Tanalgo, General Manager of Bacolod Chicken Inasal, emphasized the alignment of this partnership with the restaurant’s core values: quality, hospitality, and creating lasting positive experiences for diners.
Beyond hospitality, FEU Academy is also bolstering expertise in a critical, often overlooked field: monitoring and evaluation. A new collaboration with the Association of Monitoring and Evaluation Professionals of the Philippines (AMEP-P) will launch a specialized diploma course.
AMEP-P President Enrique Lozari explained that effective monitoring and evaluation isn’t merely about ticking boxes; it’s about empowering organizations to make data-driven decisions and achieve meaningful, lasting impact.
This diploma course is designed to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world application, equipping professionals with the skills to navigate the increasingly complex demands of both the public and private sectors.
These partnerships signal FEU’s commitment to proactive education, preparing students not just for jobs, but for leadership roles in a rapidly evolving world.
