This declaration arrived amidst a wave of grief and outrage following the tragic death of Sheridan Gorman, a Loyola University student. The alleged perpetrator, Jose Medina, a Venezuelan migrant, had been previously apprehended by Border Patrol and released into the country last year.
The timing of the snowplow’s unveiling ignited immediate criticism. Questions arose regarding the sensitivity of celebrating a politically charged slogan so soon after a devastating loss.
