Senator Thom Tillis used a recent televised interview to voice concerns that the upcoming election could be compromised by actions within the current administration.
The discussion focused on Acting Director of National Intelligence Bill Pulte and his chief of staff, Christina Norton, whose backgrounds include work on Republican election issues. Tillis suggested that their positions form part of a broader effort to influence the electoral process.
Tillis called for the removal of Pulte from the intelligence role and advocated eliminating the Office of the Director of National Intelligence altogether, arguing that the agency’s structure should revert to the pre‑2004 interagency model.
He also criticized the proposed SAVE America Act, stating that it would unnecessarily duplicate North Carolina’s existing voter‑ID requirements and be impossible to implement before the November election.
Tillis warned that continued political maneuvers risk eroding public confidence in a peaceful transfer of power, a tradition he described as a cornerstone of the nation’s democratic history.
